Enjoy beautiful seascapes along Crystal River’s Fort Island Beach.  This half-mile long, crescent-shaped, white sand beach offers up a panoramic of the Gulf of Mexico dotted with shells and seagulls. Fort Island Gulf Beach is a family favorite in the area because if its free admission, ample parking, restrooms and showers onsite, boardwalks for strolling and its frequent dolphin sightings.

The pier at Fort Island Gulf Beach offers up an amazing view of the Gulf of Mexico, sightseeing for the various fish and dolphins that are common to the area, and saltwater fishing. A boat dock and ramp are available at the beach for those who prefer fishing off shore or simply enjoying the gentle rock of the gulf waves. Salt marshes border parts of the beach and natural hummocks can be seen elsewhere along the beach. Heavily forested areas border much of the beach and comprise part of the Crystal River Preserve.

For families spending the day, there are picnic facilities on site which include picnic tables, pavilions, and charcoal grills. Just remember, pets are not allowed at this beach so fido will have to stay home.
