Our Hernando hotel is only a few miles from the world-famous
Withlacoochee Trail, a 46 mile long cycling and multi-use trail that winds it’s way through Citrus County.  With sidewalks and paved paths all the way from our front door to the trail, you can bike continuously for up to 100 miles in a day. The Withlacochee Trail Is a wide, asphalt-paved trail that winds along the Withlacoochee River. The trail is built atop old abandoned railway tracks. Some parts of the trail are open to horseback riding also.

In addition to the Withlacoochee Trail, Citrus County offers hundreds of miles of bike trails that are built for all levels of experienced riders from beginners to pros. These include straight stretches to mountain bike trails that twist and turn and go up and down hills. Easy trails include those at Whispering Pines City Park in Inverness. Other local trails include Potts Preserve, Flying Eagle, and Martin’s Marsh Aquatic preserve. Some of these trails are unpaved so caution is advised.

The Cross Florida Greenway and the Rails-to-Trails project provide a 110-mile long continuous trail that goes from one Florida coast to the other. This trail includes 80,000 acres of protected natural areas. Recent changes to the trail include a 3.6 million dollar grant for new trails in Citrus County, near Dunnellon, as well as a walking/biking bridge over the Withlacoochee River.
